Renting a villa with private pool in the hills around Lucca
allows guests to visit this hidden gem of a town, to reach the 20km long beaches of Versilia in a half hour, and to attend a multitude of music festivals which are held in town throughout the summer months. Completely enclosed by its massive 16th century stone walls this city offers a very different scenario to Florence. There is no traffic in the historical centre, everyone walks or cycles. You won’t find any souvenir shops, or foreign language information boards. The streets winding through the town are narrow and often open up to little piazzas with medieval and Renaissance buildings and churches in a remarkably good state. The atmosphere is tranquil and relaxed. Wealthy Lucca is packed with interesting boutiques, bars and trattorias which mostly have their tables on the street enabling visitors to enjoy delicious Tuscan fare outdoors and the via vi of local life. An excellent combination of nature, culture and beach days.
